As I was going through a strategic planning session today with a nonprofit, I suddenly realized how thankful I was for philly's hacker spaces and the whole maker/DIY community. I was helping to lead a small group in a discussion of future tech, and I have never considered myself an expert on this topic. However, what I realized was that compared to many in the room, I actually knew a lot. That is entirely due to my exposure to this community and to all of the people and places that I follow on social media. In fact, I'm now facing the decision of joining a space or coworking situation because I value this type of interaction. Sean and Dan, you are the assets far more than the space. Thanks for leading cool discussions and making Philly my *Biig Bang Theory*. It's all about a collage of great ideas.

A hackerspace, to me, is a place to work on projects and socialize. I remember the first time I went to the Hacktory and I saw all of these people talking about science and math and I was blown away.

I think community service is not required for a hackerspace, but it is a good idea for us personally. I'd like to help out in further community service efforts.
